Expert mission of Prof. Dario Companione (University of Teramo, Italy) to ONAFT (Ukraine)
In the period from September 6 to 9, the Vice-Rector for Research of Teramo University (Italy), PhD Coordinator for Food Sciences, Professor of Analytical Chemistry Faculty of Biological Sciences and Technologies for Agriculture, Nutrition and the Environment, Professor Dario Companione has visited the Odessa National Academy of Food Technologies. This expert mission took place within the framework of the implementation of EU project "Improving laboratory skills in laboratory practice for agri-food specialists in Eastern Europe / Ag-Lab".
The second seminar "Detection of phenolic compounds and antioxidant activity in food" was devoted to different classes of polyphenols in food products, their meaning and the ratio of structural functions with data on nutritional and functional properties. The main approaches to determining the content of polyphenols and antioxidant activity were presented. Particular emphasis was placed on the development of optical analyzes based on nanoparticles and electrochemical sensors for rapid class selective determination of polyphenols and antioxidant activity in various food matrices.
In addition, Professor Compagnone visited the main laboratories of ONAFT and met with the rector to discuss opportunities for further cooperation.
